Animals: There are no animals permitted at Fairwinds.
Bar: This room is kept locked at all times and is off-limits to Fairwinds' guests.
Beach: Beach goers need to wash off sand before entering the house. There are faucets located on the dock and beneath the stairway leading to the dock and the verdana.
Boathouse: The boathouse and its contents are not for use by Fairwinds' guests.
Caretaker: The caretaker is Lori Karsemeyer. She lives at 9880 Lake and is responsible for all upkeep. If Lori is available, she is always happy to answer any questions you might have. If she is not on site, please leave a phone message on her machine at 530-546-3590. At times the owner John Paye Sr., will be available and serving as caretaker. 530-305-0012 or 530-274-8865
Caretaker's Quarters: The four bedrooms behind the kitchen are reserved for the caretaker and family.
Chauffeur's Cabin (Guest House): This structure near the garage is for family use only.
Cleaning: Please wash and put away all dishes before leaving, as well as leaving the house in the same condition you found it. Dirt at high altitudes, coupled with sand from nearby beaches, is a problem. Vacuums and cleaning supplies are found in every bedroom. If it gets unbearable, do something.
Firewood: Guest are required to supply their own kindling and firewood.
Furniture: The furniture found at Fairwinds is original Monterey from the 1920's and is very valuable. It may not be moved without written permission from the owners.
Garbage: Trash must be removed by you. We have provided you with a large dumpster at the front of the property for this purpose.
Heater: There are six heating zones in the house. Find the thermostat in the room of interest to you. Please keep all thermostats at 68F. Also, be sure to keep all doors to the house closed.
Linens: Linens are supplied by management and can be found in each of the bedrooms. Please use only those linens you need. Additional linens can be requested by calling 530-546-3555. The linen closet is therefore off-limits to guests. Additional pillows and blankets can be found in the bedroom closets. Any bedroom closets which are locked contain the owner's personal belongings. Upon completion of your stay. all dirty linens are to be placed on kitchen floor. Your bed is to be remade without linens.
Parking: Parking is available to the right off the caretaker's cottage for 3 guest cars. Parking on Harbor Avenue is allowed. However, cars cannot park on Lake Street or they will be ticketed. Please pay attention to all posted signs.
Quiet Time: Please be respectful of our neighbors at the Lake. All music and loud noise must be quieted by 10pm.
Refrigerator: Close doors quietly -- do not slam!
Recycling: At Fairwinds, we recycle glass, aluminum, tin and plastic. Newspaper are used for the fire. All guests are required to carry their recycling out with them. You can drop off your recycling at the Safeway store located on North Lake Blvd. in Kings Beach. You will be charged for garbage left on the premises.
Telephone: All long distance telephone calls must be made either collect or with a calling card. The phone number for Fairwinds is 530-546-3550. Long distance calls charged to 530-546-3550 will incur and additional $50 bookeeping charge.
Television, VCR & Stereo: The television, VCR and stereo are available for guest use. Please be careful of the volume through the speakers so as not to damage them. Instruction manuals are located on top of the TV for your convenience. Please be sure to return them to their original place. Please ask Lori for help in operating equipment.
